Commands to PntMgr.
-------------------
Adding Points goes to write a netmail via routing or crash
to PntMgr,16:900/500
There are two main commands to PntMgr : one is to add points and one
is to delete points. Besides, there are in PntMgr two 'macro
commands', one is to request a copy of segment of the pointlist, con-
trolled by the requester, and one serves to instruct that the re-
quester wants to start the pointlist all over again
3.1 adding points
To add points, two syntaxes are allowed. The first syntax takes up
four lines. It looks like this :
[+]<point_number>
<system_name>
<location>
<point_name>[,<modem_speed>]
The square brackets around the plus sign mean that this sign is op-
tional. These two instructions are totaly equivalent :
+10
Interstellar BBS point 10
Rome
Peter Pan
and :
10
Interstellar BBS point 10
Rome
Peter Pan
The square brackets aroung <modem_speed> makes this optional also. If
it is not used, the modem speed will default to 2400.
The second form in which you can add a point uses only one line. This
is its syntax :
,<point_number>,<system_name>,<location>,<point_name>[,<modem_speed>]
Here again, the square brackets indicate an optional item. It is only
used to indicate the speed that is to be used in the 'boss format'
point list. If not used, it will default to 2400. In the 'point
format' list, the speed of the boss will always be used, and this can-
not be changed by this option.
The reason for this is that FrontDoor gives you an estimation of the
time it is going to take to transfer this file to your point, when you
press Alt-B from the main mailer screen, and then press enter on a
selected packet. FrontDoor calculates this time on the speed, it finds
in the pointlist. It is easy to understand that this feature is of
little use, except to the boss of the point in question, himself. Bos-
ses that do not use FrontDoor will find no use in this feature at all.
Do notice, that the second syntax has to start with a comma, and do
not make the mistake to add a telephone number in between the
<point_name> and the <modem_speed>. This would only confuse PntMgr and
cause it to write an error message.
The equivalent of the two first examples in the second syntax would
be :
,10,Interstellar_BBS_point_10,Rome,Peter_Pan
If you woulf like to indicate that the speed is 9600, you would write:
,10,Interstellar_BBS_point_10,Rome,Peter_Pan,9600
The only acceptable values for <modem_speed> are 1200, 2400 and 9600.
If the modem can transmit at higher speeds, it should be indicated by
flags, and PntMgr vs 0.19B cannot process these flags yet. It will
however be included in a later version, before the first official
release.
You can add more than one point at once in a message to PntMgr. You
just write one entry after the other. You can even mix formats. PntMgr
will hapily process your message
3.2 deleting points
Deleting a point is quite easy. The instruction has only one format :
-<pointnumber>
So, deleting Peter Pan from the pointlist would be done by :
-10
No more information is needed by PntMgr. You can of course do multiple
deletions in one message to PntMgr, and you can mix additions and
deletions in one message.
3.3 changing the entry of a point
To change the entry of a point, you first delete it and then add the
corrected entry. Changing the system name in our example would be done
by this instruction :
-10
10
Galactic BBS point 10
Rome
Peter Pan
or by its equivalent :
-10
,10,Galactic_BBS_point_10,Rome,Peter_Pan
3.4 requesting the list of your segment
If you want to make sure your segment of the pointlist looks exactly
the way you imagined, you can ask PntMgr to send you an extraction of
your segment, with the macro command :
%L
Any line that starts with these two characters will do the trick. So
equaly legal would be : "%List", if that is the way you like to write
it.
3.5 starting a new segment
It can happen that you want to send your list all over again. There is
a command that deletes all your points at once :
%N
Any line that starts with these two characters will do the trick. So
equaly legel are : "%New", "%Neu", "%Nouveau", "%Nieuw", "%Nuovo" etc.
if you prefer to write it one of these ways.
After that command, you must of course define your points from scratch
again.
3.6 requesting for help
[not yet supported]
If you have more problems , please write me or call me voice at
++32-59-278312
Every time that you sent a PntMgr you will receive in return a answer from
PntMgr with the change,if you sent the message Crash, the answer from PntMgr
stay on HOLD here,if you sent the message via the routing, you will receive
the answer via the routing.
The complete Belgium pointlist in two parts , (BOSS-list and POINT-list)
will be updated every day and can be freqqed under the MAGIC name ZYXPOINT
on my system 16:900/500.
Every week at saterday the list will be hatched into ZYX_DIFF area
if there area changes
It is the job of the BOSS of sysop from a system who have points to sent
the PntMgr-message to me.
Thanks for your cooperation
